Just last week my hubby and I returned from another Boundary Waters trip that we took with my brother and my hubby’s brother. It was a 6 day trip in the wilderness, and we covered many water miles, doing lots of paddling and portaging.
The trip was awesome! The weather was beautiful (we only had one large rainstorm), the scenery was amazing, and the fish were biting.
Paddling many miles each day, taking on some tough portages with heavy packs, setting up and tearing down camp several times over the course of 6 days and swatting many mosquitoes was a lot of hard work.
But, there is something very rewarding and satisfying about doing hard things while keeping a good attitude and enjoying whatever the journey throws at you. My soul is very much at peace in the wilderness, and I got to marvel at God’s creation. The call of the loons, the splash of the fish, the glassy lake waters, and gorgeous sunsets all speak to the greatness of God.
I came home tired and dirty but very refreshed and ready to go again.
Where have your adventures taken you so far this summer?
