Last summer I shared how to make Strawberry-Banana “Ice Cream” using only bananas and strawberries and giving them a whirl in the food processor. I recently discovered that the same thing can be done with mango to get a super silky frozen treat. No sugar, no preservatives, just delicious fruit! I was blow away by the smooth texture and how sweet and delicious it was!
Recipe from Foodie with Family
Ingredients:
1-2 mangoes (I found that about 1 1/2 mangoes made two decent sized servings)
Step One:
You need to freeze the mangoes first so plan at least several hours in advance if not the day before you want some of this goodness. Cut the fruit off the pit and remove the skin. Cut into strips or chunks and lay on a cookie sheet. Freeze the sheet of mangoes for a couple hours and then transfer to an airtight container. Freezing on a cookie sheet first keeps the pieces from becoming one huge blob and makes it easier to break up the pieces so that it is easier on your food processor.
Step Two:
After you have your frozen mango pieces, you are ready to whip up your ice cream. Put the frozen mango (break up the chunks a bit) in your food processor (or a super powerful blender) and process for a minute or two. You will know it is done when it goes from frozen fruit chunks to smooth and creamy. Remove from the food processor and serve immediately.
This stuff is crazy good and is perfect for a dessert after hamburgers on the grill this summer or as a lovely snack!

Wow that’s great. We make frozen mangos on a stick and they are super tasty, but this is just as easy and will help get over the occasional ice cream fix.

I love this! I have been making frozen yogurt in my Tupperware Quick Chef Pro (food processor that does not require electricity) with a container of yogurt and frozen fruit. I have not tried just fruit though. So much better for you than ice cream and much less expensive!

I saw this on Frugally Sustainable and immediately grabbed some mango I had just put in the freezer yesterday so that I could try it. In fact, I have a bowl of it in front of me right now
It is delicious! It tastes a little like Rita’s mango Italian Ice (my favorite flavor there!) I had to add a little orange juice to it, to make the consistency more creamy. But it is definitely a great healthy summer snack! Thanks for the idea!
