I found this super funny, super cute hedgehog over at Matsutake, and as soon as I laid eyes on her I knew I had to make her and knew exactly who I would give her to. Inna over at Paper Raindrops is my sister-in-law and she has wanted a real hedgehog as a pet for a long time. I thought that if she couldn’t have a real one, I would make her a stuffed one for Christmas. The little upturned nose and ruffled “spikes” make her absolutely irresistible. She was easy to figure out how to put together, and the only slightly tricky part was sewing on the ruffles because they had to be sewn on by hand.
Using the pattern print out from Matsutake, I cut out all my hedgehog pieces.
After sewing the pieces together, I stuffed it full of fiberfill.
I then cut out, pressed, and gathered my spikes/ruffles…
…and sewed them on by hand.
After the ruffles were secured I embroidered on eyes and the nose. I giggled like a schoolgirl because she is so stinkin’ cute!
I know that Inna will give her a great home and she will be well taken care of. Now I want one for myself…
